On September 1st 2000, the KCC Foundation (KCC),
registered charity number 1043210, assumed responsibility for the training
activities, the KCC Register, KCC Books and non business counselling services
that was formerly under the auspices of Kensington Consultation Centre.
Kensington Consultation Centre continues and controls Organisational Services.
KCC is a learning organisation. Within our
learning programmes attention is centred on creating contexts where individuals
and groups can work, live and develop to their full potential in their chosen
professions and relationships. In the pursuit of this we explore with people,
using systemic/social-constructionist approaches, how they can communicate and
contribute, understand their position of influence in ways which enhance their
own abilities to make good judgements in the organisation within which they
work.
An academic and practice based institute, KCC has
post qualifying and advanced training pathways in Management and
Psychotherapy. The MSc in Leadership and Organisational Studies and the
MSc/ Postgraduate Diploma in Systemic Psychotherapy are validated by the
University of Luton and the MA/ Postgraduate Diploma in Systemic Practice
validated by the University of Northumbria at Newcastle.
KCC's programmes are run in the UK, Sweden,
Denmark, Finland and Colombia in South America. .
We specialise in Organisational Consultation and
Management training which focuses on the complexity of organisational systems
and the enormous challenges and opportunities that this complexity creates. All
of our management programmes draw on the latest research and knowledge from the
worlds of management, organisational learning and development. Mainstream
management and organisation theory is examined within the framework of the
systemic and social constuctionist ideas and practices which underpin all of our
work. Our overall approach can be seen as an invitation to an imaginative and
fresh perception of organisations and the processes and lifecycles through which
they develop.
People who work in the therapy context at KCC are
dedicated to believing in the uniqueness of people as
individuals-in-relationship. Our optimism is based on the belief that working
with people through the rich network of their relationships creates wholeness,
healing and possibilities of new living, even when hope seems absurd. The Centre
offers psychotherapy and counselling to individuals, couples and families.
Supervision and consultation is provided for counsellors, therapists and other
human relations professionals. Learning opportunities are varied and include
Certificate, Diploma and Master's level training courses for work with
individuals, couples and families lead to a professional qualification as a
psychotherapist. The courses can be taken in stages which are subject to
University awards. Recognition by the Association of Family Therapy and the
social work Post-qualification Consortium are features of the course.
We have full membership of the United Kingdom
Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the organisation negotiating on behalf of the
UK in Europe for the psychotherapeutic profession.
In addition there are full programmes of one and
two-day workshops and short courses which
run throughout the year in both the Therapy
and Management Schools.
